So I went to see Avatar (in 3D, naturally!) yesterday and it was really quite amazing. I enjoyed the story and the characters, but the real triumph of this film comes with, of course, the absolutely fucking incredible world that Cameron has made. It is just too beautiful. I was amazed by how easy it was to connect with the CG characters and pretty much totally forget that you’re not watching something real. This little video shows how Cameron and the effects department went about filming and constructing the Na’vi and the Avatars and is definitely worth a look. It really drives home how wonderful Zoe Saldana’s performance was, too.
I’ve seen it three times and counting and concur with everything above.
I heard Jack barking and went over to see what looked like a huge slimy cat,’ she said. ‘We could see it came from a stream at the end of the garden from tracks in the snow.’
Her father, Professor Tim Dwyer, 51, said: ‘It was bizarre, really. ‘My daughter was out with our dog Jack in the snow when she came in and said “there’s a seal in the garden”.
‘We all went out and under the hedge was a seal looking quite chirpy and slithering around in the snow.’
Prof Dwyer, who works in the engineering department at London South Bank University, said: ‘I went back indoors and rang the RSPCA and police.
‘The seal made its way across the garden into the pond, where it sat happily staring out of the pond in an enchanting way with its eyes just above the water.’
RCHP are one of those bands I always forget to mention when people ask for my favourites. It’s not particularly big or cool, but I love those guys. And this video was hilarious.
