Writing a book is hard.

I am hoping now that I have put that out into the ether, it will get a bit easier.

Definitely. It means people will say “How’s your book going?” and then you’ll wince and sweat a little bit behind the ears and say, “Greaaat!” while mentall scheduling ‘writing only’ time for the weekend.

In all seriousness, though, aside from guarding your ideas/killer hook, I think talking to people about it - or at least just telling them - is a good move. Writing can be far too solitary. It’s bad when you’re a freelancer or columnist or the like, and then a book (or any long project, whether it’s a VF feature or a thesis) compounds that.
